As a response to the increasing emergence in gangs and the exploitation of children and young people locally by gangs, the Thurrock Local Safeguarding Children’s Board in partnership with the Thurrock Youth Offending Service are facilitating two half day gangs awareness training for practitioners.
As well as generic training, the session will focus on the local issues and case examples that are specific to Thurrock and based on extensive knowledge and experience. The training aims to raise awareness of how gangs operate, give you the skills to identify if a young person is gang affiliated or at risk of being exploited by gangs, the risks that are associated, how those risks can be managed and the multi-agency processes that are in place to address gang related violence and the safeguarding of those vulnerable to exploitation.
Please note: all attendees should have previously attended single agency Basic Child Protection training and must provide evidence of this with their application form
